How to use the Business Days calculator

    1. Enter your numbers. Fill in start date, end date, exclude U.S. federal holidays, count the end date.
    2. Read your results. Results update instantly. The headline shows the business days; the breakdown and table below show the details.

What counts as a business day

Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. You can choose to exclude the 11 U.S. federal holidays, using the observed date when a holiday falls on a weekend (Saturday holidays are observed Friday, Sunday holidays Monday), per OPM rules.

    Federal holidays

New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth (since 2021), Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Counting conventions

The start date is counted, and by default so is the end date (both ends inclusive), which is how most people count working days in a range. Set “count the end date” to No to count up to the day before the end date, which matches deadlines like “within 10 business days” counted from the next day.

Banks generally follow the Federal Reserve holiday calendar, which matches the federal list. State and company holidays (like the day after Thanksgiving) aren’t included.

    Worked example

With these inputs: start date 2026-11-02; end date 2026-12-31; exclude U.S. federal holidays Yes; count the end date Yes.

The calculator gives a business days of 41 (60 calendar days). Other results: weekend days 16, federal holidays on weekdays 3, work weeks (5-day) 8.2.

    What your results mean

Business days exclude Saturdays, Sundays and (if selected) observed federal holidays in the range.

    Tips

    • Check whether a deadline counts the start date.
    • Add company-specific holidays manually.
    • Bank transfers usually follow the federal holiday calendar.
