    How GPA is calculated

Quality points = grade points × credits
GPA = total quality points ÷ total credits

    This calculator uses the common 4.0 scale with plus/minus grades: A/A+ 4.0, A− 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B− 2.7, C+ 2.3, C 2.0, C− 1.7, D+ 1.3, D 1.0, D− 0.7, F 0. Some schools count A+ as 4.3 or don’t use minus grades; check your registrar’s scale.

    Cumulative GPA

To combine terms, weight each by its credits: (old GPA × old credits + new quality points) ÷ (old credits + new credits). Courses taken pass/fail or withdrawn usually don’t count.

    Weighted high school GPA

Many high schools add 0.5 for honors or 1.0 for AP/IB courses. This calculator shows the unweighted GPA; colleges often recalculate GPAs their own way.

    What your results mean

Your term GPA is the credit-weighted average of your grade points. Cumulative GPA blends it with your past record.

    Tips

    • High-credit courses move your GPA the most.
    • Check if your school uses A+ = 4.3.
    • Retake policies can replace an earlier low grade.
